West Coast Expedition 2026

Wandering Minds Walk West Coast Expedition

Kalumburu, Kimberley to Albany, Western Australia

5,000km | July 2026

“Most people wouldn’t walk over 5,000 km through some of Australia’s harshest and most remote landscapes - but when it comes to mental health, I’d do it twice.”

The Wandering Minds West Coast Expedition

In 2026, I will undertake a 5,000-kilometre walk along the entire West Coast of Australia with my psychiatric assistance dog, Rusty, by my side. This ambitious expedition aims to create meaningful social impact by delivering 100 community presentations, 100 school presentations, and raising $100,000 for the Black Dog Institute to support vital mental health research and programs.

Travelling through some of Australia's most remote and regional communities, the expedition will provide free, evidence-informed workshops, presentations, and community engagement opportunities focused on mental health, resilience, wellbeing, purpose, and connection. The goal is not only to raise awareness, but to equip individuals, schools, and communities with practical tools, knowledge, and pathways to support.

Working alongside local councils, First Nations communities, schools, health services, and community organisations, the expedition will foster conversations that reduce stigma, encourage help-seeking, and strengthen community connection. Through face-to-face engagement and national storytelling across media and digital platforms, the journey will amplify voices from regional Australia while highlighting the powerful role that nature, movement, purpose, and human connection can play in supporting mental wellbeing.

More than an endurance challenge, the Wandering Minds West Coast Expedition is a national mental health initiative designed to transform awareness into action, leaving a lasting legacy of education, connection, and support in communities across Australia.

The Mission

100 School Presentations

The expedition will deliver 100 school presentations across Australia, equipping young people with practical tools to build resilience, strengthen mental wellbeing, and encourage early help-seeking behaviours.

100 Community Presentations

The expedition will deliver 100 community presentations across regional and remote Australia, fostering meaningful conversations around mental health, reducing stigma, and connecting individuals with support, resources, and pathways to care.

Fundraising $100,000 for Black Dog InstituteParks

The expedition aims to raise $100,000 for the Black Dog Institute, supporting critical research, education, and evidence-based programs that improve mental health outcomes for Australians.

Nearly one in two Australians will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime, whilst suicide remains the leading cause of death among young people. These aren’t just statistics; they represent real people, families, and communities who deserve better.

Ways to Get Involved

Individuals, communities, and organisations can get involved throughout the West Coast Walk in a range of meaningful ways, from hosting events or meet-ups, booking presentations, and running local fundraisers, to providing on-the-ground support such as accommodation, meals, or logistical assistance as I travel through each region. Businesses can also contribute through sponsorship or in-kind support to help power the expedition.
